Wow!

LOOKIT. Wooow! [livejournal.com profile] frostpebble did some fanart for my What a Wonderful World fic.

I am so honored and hyperventilating and keyboard smashing and going, "omgformereallywow!" spazzing.

You people that do fanart--you cannot fathom (or maybe you can) what an amazing compliment it is for writers when you take time to do something for something we've written. So amazing.

Oh, also, [livejournal.com profile] twistedsheets10 and anyone else who happens to be from Southeast Asia. I want to include at least a little bit of Philippines but I've only met a couple women from there--never any men. So I wondering if maybe you guys could help me out and tell me a bit about Manila and the people there and everything.

I'm not used to seeing art--like, for my writing. So I'm kinda spazzing about it. I put the others I got in with the chapter posts but I should really start posting them like this.

Thank you so much again!

from the Philippines personally, I live in manila even. :D people are generally very helpful, willing to take some time off to help you. they also usually offer you food whenever you go to their homes, invited or not. manila's hella dirty though, with lots of street vendors and beggars(sad to say). <-- that can depend on what part of metro manila you're talking about though. for example, i live in san juan, pretty upscale since you have like four exclusive schools within the vincity, so most people living here are wealthy families. also, crime rate is pretty low there since most families don't really want for anything. but some parts of manila like cubao for instance is in pretty bad condition. dirty, lots of thefts and stuff like that.

to tell you the truth, there's hardly a metro manila since the city division is pretty distinct, but if you want to put Philippines somewhere may i suggest quezon city or makati? quezon city is pretty middle class, also one of the bigger, more populated cities and makati's really upscale, everything is like twice as expensive when you live there but it's cleaner, safer and more efficient.

manila city, (if that's what you're after) is mostly a business centered city. but unlike makati, most business there aren't the legal kinds. they're mostly street vendors and the population is somewhere in between low-class to middle class. mom says that it's sorta like china town.

aside from the occasional bad egg, most people here are helpful, well meaning individuals. one of the few reasons i like the philippines is that you can never get lost and be without help. asking any random stranger for directions is a normal occurrence and most street vendors are nice enough to point you the right way without demanding that you buy something first. one of my college professors described filipinos as 'romantics'. wanting the ending to be happy for every story, despite the small possibility of that happening. so i guess we're a bunch of optimistic dreamers too.

Thank you so much! I am eager for any and all information so this is incredibly helpful for me! Thank you so much! I have never been there myself and only have word from my dad and my uncle--who used to go there a lot and so when I was looking up the capital and found Manila--I hunted for where maybe the government buildings might be and--well--yes--so! Thank you so much!

no prob! you've got to remember though that manila is different from metro manila. metro manila is usually shortened to just manila though, so sometimes it gets pretty confusing. btw, metro manila is the capital and there's a manila city and a new manila city.
