America's relationship with France here is just, fuck, the way you write it, its not exactly familial or brotherly but more of equals. Which is just fucking fantastic. America, I think, needs a person like this in his life, someone he could talk to without the 'filial' ties.

Is it odd for me that when I was reading this, I had thought that this would have been how America had coped with 9/11? Perhaps the situation is different, as well as the people involved, and perhaps the feelings but I imagined this would have been how he dealt with it: isolating himself, being alone and dealing with it on his own (and in both times, I think England had to kick the damn door down to get him to snap out of it).

The whole scene where America says: "Sometimes, I think I want war again." is chilling and heartwarming at the same time. England settling down when he found America was just. Awww. England, you sap, you. America must have liked that knowledge, methinks.

The last scene was fitting I think, ending with America and his brothers. I love that bit with him and Canada (that's the apology there, in the appearance and the meeting of the eyes and the "Hey", I think, but mayhaps Canada will still get a 'real' apology)

I laughed so hard with him talking about growing his hair and a beard and then looking like France. OH GOD. That would truly be justice, getting blamed for what France did.

So yes, this was one hell of a fic, and I love how you write this family, NEVER stop writing them. I love the bonds you create among them, the tangible but unspoken love and concern. I love England and America, as father-son or as lovers doesn't matter, but I love it when you write them like this so so much.

When I read stories like yours, especially yours, I can't help but think no matter how current politics are or feelings of the population or goverments, England, America, Canada, and France will always have that "family" bond conveyed by that scene where America says he should be happy since his people are happy says: "Sometimes it’s not as simple as that."

Also: THE RESCUE SCENE IS FUCKING GLORIOUS. EVERYONE WAS BADASS. ENGLAND and CANADA especially. Both of them taking on those Germans? SO FUCKING AWESOME.

Write moar, much love and I'm sorry this is so fucking long. orz
