oh, my tummy hurts
Jun. 16th, 2009 01:27 pmHahaha, gosh, I have too many pieces started. I need to either narrow them down or just not start any new ideas for awhile.
I know that I want to finish them--I have starts for one where France meets Canada, the Ukranian famine of the 1930s and one with the world at war again (WWIII)--but with Scotland and Ireland getting larger roles because I want to explore them as characters. They've been a ball to write about and I really enjoy them. That is also the one I'm farthest along with--18 pages so far.
Haha, I've noticed, recently, that my fics are getting longer. God Loves Whomever (about the unification of Germany) was my longest previously at about 50 pages in a Word document. That one was really fun to do and rewarding too. (I do use comments as a gauge for how badly/well I've done because just because I like it doesn't mean it's actually any good.)
Prussia is one of my favorite characters to write for. What about you guys? Do you all have a favorite?
Prussia is one of my favorites because he has so much potential for complexity and I love that. I like writing for America for the same reason. And, I just hate the interpretation that America is just a dumbass. I can't stand it. Hahaha. I'm biased though. I also like writing for France and England--France faces very, very heavy stereotyping and I like giving his character more than that. And England is just a mass of facets. His personality is just a puzzle. He's a really interesting character.
I also like putting in characters that don't get much screentime. Like Ukraine and Canada (I mean, Canada written as a real character, not just as his stereotype) and Australia and New Zealand too because we don't know anything about their characters yet but it's really fun to imagine.
I need to edit Apples Don't Fall Far though. I got a comment about how familial everything was presented until the very end--and so the end sort of threw the reader off and I think she's right. So I have an idea and I think I'm going to take some time to edit it eventually.
I think I'd like to do some work on Red Potatoes too. That was my first time writing Prussia and I didn't have a good handle on him. I'd like to fix a few bits of it.
